CFIA Suspends Operations at Establishment 3045, Érablière Bernatchez
July 2, 2013 (Ottawa): The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the registration to operate of Establishment 3045, Érablière Bernatchez, effective June 28, 2013. The establishment is a federally registered maple syrup producer in St-Sylvestre, Québec.
There are no food safety issues associated with this suspension and no product is being recalled.
The registration was suspended because the operator has recently refused to allow the CFIA to enter the premises to conduct an inspection.
Érablière Bernatchez will not be able to resume operations under federal jurisdiction until the operator allows CFIA inspectors to conduct an inspection.
The CFIA safeguards food, animals and plants which enhances the health and well-being of Canada's people, environment and economy, and access to international markets. Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
