CFIA suspends the operating licence at Establishment 744, GS Foods Ltd.
Effective Jan. 18, 2017, the licence of GS Foods Ltd. was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
November 23, 2016, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the operating licence of GS Foods Ltd., a processing facility in Port Coquitlam, BC, effective November 18, 2016.
The operator's licence has been suspended because of a failure to effectively maintain a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program, as required by the Meat Inspection Regulations, 1990.
There are currently no food safety issues associated with this suspension and no product being recalled at this time.
The operator will not be able to resume activities related to manufacturing raw meat products until the CFIA determines that the required corrective measures have been taken.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
