Effective January 23, 2014,  Fruits de mer Libério Inc. was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.

December 3, 2013 (Ottawa): The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspended the import licence of Fruits de mer Libério Inc., effective November 25, 2013. Fruits de mer Libério Inc. is an importer of fish products located in Montréal, Quebec.

The company's import licence was suspended due to non-compliances relating to net weight, labelling, and sensory inspection of imported products.

There are no food safety issues with the distributed product, and no product is being recalled.

Fruits de mer Libério Inc.'s import licence will not be reinstated until the company has fully demonstrated the capacity to implement the necessary corrective actions as approved by the CFIA.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
