- Under the Fish Inspection Regulations, the CFIA has the authority to “refuse to renew” a fish establishment’s or fish importer’s licence at the time of renewal if the establishment has failed to comply with the legislative requirements.
- A licence that was cancelled or suspended can be reinstated under certain conditions, for example, if the establishment becomes compliant again. The “Date of Reinstatement” column shows the date of reinstatement of the licence.
- The asterisk (*) beside the name of a regulated party indicates that the licence of that fish establishment /importer was suspended or cancelled due to fish net weight violation.

Authority for enforcement action
Fish Inspection Regulations
6.2 (1) The President of the Agency may suspend, revoke or refuse to issue an import licence where the President of the Agency believes on reasonable grounds that the holder of, or the applicant for, the licence
- has provided false information to the President of the Agency for the purpose of obtaining a licence;
- has failed to provide a written notification required pursuant to paragraph 6(2)(e);
- has provided false information to an inspector in a written notification required pursuant to paragraph 6(2)(e);
- has failed to maintain a record in accordance with subsection 6.1(3);
- has not paid any of the fees set out in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Fees Notice that are payable under these Regulations;
- has failed to comply with the requirements of section 6.01;
- is not operating the quality management program in accordance with the applicable requirements of the Inspection Manual; or
- has otherwise failed to meet the applicable requirements of the Act or these Regulations.
17. (1) The President of the Agency may suspend, revoke or refuse to issue a certificate of registration or a fish export licence if
- the President has reasonable grounds to believe that the operator of a registered establishment, the holder of the licence or the applicant has provided false information to the President for the purpose of obtaining a certificate or licence;
- the registered establishment or the establishment, equipment or conveyances of the holder of the licence are not free from serious contamination;
- the establishment is not operated in accordance with the quality management program;
- the operator of the registered establishment or the holder of the licence has failed to comply with the requirements of section 6.01; or
- the operator of the registered establishment, the holder of the licence or the applicant otherwise fails to comply with these Regulations or a condition of the certificate or licence or fails to pay the applicable fee fixed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Fees Notice.
Meat Inspection Regulations
27 (4) The registration of an establishment for an activity set out in subsection (1)
- shall lapse if the activity is not carried out in the establishment for a period of 12 consecutive months; and
27 (5) The Director may cancel the registration of an establishment where the establishment ceases to comply with section 28.
29.2 (1) The President may suspend an operator's licence
- if
- the registered establishment does not comply with the requirements of the Act, these Regulations, the FSEP Manual or the Manual of Procedures,
- the operator fails to comply with the requirements of the Act, these Regulations, the FSEP Manual or the Manual of Procedures,
- it is reasonable to believe that public health will be endangered or the edibility of meat products produced in the registered establishment would be affected if the establishment is allowed to continue operating, or
- the HACCP plans or the prerequisite plans of the registered establishment no longer comply with the requirements specified in the FSEP Manual; and
- if
- an inspector has notified the operator of the existence of grounds for suspension under paragraph (a),
- an inspector has provided the operator with a copy of an inspection report that sets out the date by which corrective measures must be implemented in order to avoid the suspension of licence, and
- if the operator has failed or is unable to take corrective measures by the date referred to in subparagraph (ii), a notice of suspension is delivered to the operator.
