Second Alternative Service Delivery (ASD) Policy Consultation

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is consulting with stakeholders as part of the process to develop an alternative service delivery (ASD) policy for the Agency. The public consultation will begin on April 20, 2015 and will be open for 60 days. It will end on June 19, 2015.

The CFIA defines ASD as the use of arrangements under which an external party delivers a program or service that directly pertains to the CFIA's mandate and would otherwise be delivered by the CFIA. When ASD arrangements are established, the CFIA retains responsibility for overseeing them. The CFIA is developing an ASD policy to promote a consistent approach to establishing and overseeing the Agency's ASD arrangements.

In the spring of 2012, the CFIA conducted an initial consultation on key policy elements of a future ASD policy. The results from the first consultation are available online. The views of the participants were taken into account when developing the draft ASD policy.

The CFIA is consulting a second time, with staff and with other stakeholders, to seek feedback on the draft policy before finalizing and implementing the policy.

There are multiple ways to provide input during the consultation:
