Management Adjustment: CFIA Herds and Flocks

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is adjusting the management of its research animal herds and flocks. Specifically, it will reduce the number of animals in its swine herds and sheep flocks at CFIA laboratories.

This adjustment is in line with high-priority animal health research activities, such as diagnostic testing related to foreign animal diseases like avian influenza.

The CFIA will continue to need a critical mass of animals for research needs.
