Federal Assistance Program

The Federal Assistance Program (FAP) is the CFIA's sole contribution program. The FAP supports projects and initiatives that advance the CFIA's strategic outcome; specifically, the outcome related to promoting science-based regulation and to maintaining an effective regulatory framework.

Eligible recipients include those whose goals and objectives are complementary to and supportive of the CFIA's mission and strategic outcome.

For a project or an initiative to be funded by the FAP, it must clearly demonstrate that it contributes to the achievement of the Agency's strategic outcome, that it can generally be completed within one year, and that it is not an ongoing or continuous project.

There is no fixed budget amount allocated for the FAP. The availability of FAP funds depends on each program manager's budget level.
