Title or Working Title of the Regulatory Initiative
Regulations amending the Seeds Regulations and the Health of Animals Regulations, Veterinary Biologics (Bilingual labelling)
Description of the Objective
These proposed amendments to the Seeds Regulations and the Health of Animals Regulations would respond to a Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations' recommendation to make sure certain labelling provisions of these regulations comply with section 26 of the Official Languages Act (OLA) which requires that labelling provisions pertaining to health and safety be presented in both official languages. It is a priority of the Government of Canada to be in full compliance with the requirements of the OLA.
Seeds Act and Health of Animals Act
Indication of Business Impacts
There may be business impacts. The "One-for-One" Rule and the Small Business Lens may apply.
Public Consultation Opportunities
These proposed amendments will be published in the Canada Gazette, Part II in Fall 2017. As the amendments are necessary in order to comply with the official language requirements under the OLA, an exemption from pre-publication in the Canada Gazette, Part I is being sought.
