Title or Working Title of the Regulatory Initiative
Regulations amending the Fertilizer Regulations
Description of the Objective
These proposed amendments would introduce a risk-based approach where regulatory intervention and oversight are commensurate with the potential health and safety risks associated with the product and its use. This supports innovation and expedites time to market for safe fertilizers and supplements while maintaining high product safety and environmentally sustainability standards. Regulatory and administrative burden on regulated parties would also be reduced by streamlining the registration, re-registration and registration amendment processes.
Indication of Business Impacts
There may be business impacts. The "One-for-One" Rule and the Small Business Lens may apply.
Public Consultation Opportunities
These proposed amendments will be pre-published in the Canada Gazette, Part I in Fall 2017.
