Regulations amending the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations (Livestock traceability violations)

Title or Working Title of the Regulatory Initiative

Regulations amending the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations (Livestock traceability violations)

Description of the Objective

Proposed amendments to Part XV (Livestock identification and traceability) of the Health of Animals Regulations require that amendments be made to Schedule I, Division 1 of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations in order to allow persons designated by the CFIA to issue notices of violation to enforce the new provisions respecting the livestock identification and traceability requirements that will be included when Part XV of the Health of Animals Regulations is amended. Amendments to Part XV would result in mandatory animal identification, traceability, and record keeping requirements for cattle, bison, sheep, goat, and cervid species. Administrative monetary penalties are one of several enforcement options for the CFIA to respond to non-compliances.
