Regulations amending the Fertilizers Regulations

Title or Working Title of the Regulatory Initiative

Regulations amending the Fertilizers Regulations

Description of the Objective

These proposed amendments would introduce a risk-based approach where regulatory intervention and oversight are commensurate with the potential health and safety risks associated with the product and its use. This supports innovation and expedites time to market for safe fertilizers and supplements while maintaining high product safety and environmentally sustainable standards. Product definitions and compositional criteria of primary materials would be amended to bring these up to date with current science, industry trends and international norms. Regulatory and administrative burden on regulated parties would also be reduced by streamlining the registration, re-registration and registration amendment processes.
