Collective Agreement between the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) regarding the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Bargaining Unit
** Article 54 – Leave with or Without Pay for Other Reasons

* 54.01 At its discretion, the Employer may grant:

  1. leave with pay when circumstances not directly attributable to the employee prevent his or her reporting for duty; such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld;
  2. leave with or without pay for purposes other than those specified in this Agreement.

** 54.02 Volunteer Leave

* Sub-clause 54.02(a) does not apply to bargaining unit employees classified as GL or GS.

* Sub-clause 54.02(b) applies only to bargaining unit employees classified as GL or GS.

  1. ** Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, seven decimal five (7.5) hours leave with pay to work as a volunteer for a charitable or community organization or activity, other than for activities related to the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. For purposes of this clause, a day is equal to seven decimal five (7.5) hours.
  2. ** Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, eight (8) hours leave with pay to work as a volunteer for a charitable or community organization or activity, other than for activities related to the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. For purposes of this clause, a day is equal to eight (8) hours.
  3. The leave will be scheduled at a time convenient both to the employee and the Employer. Nevertheless, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to grant the leave at such a time as the employee may request.

** 54.03 Personal Leave

* Sub-clause 54.03(a) does not apply to bargaining unit employees classified as GL or GS.

* Sub-clause 54.03(b) applies only to bargaining unit employees classified as GL or GS.

  1. ** Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, seven decimal five (7.5) hours leave with pay for reasons of a personal nature. For purposes of this clause, a day is equal to seven decimal five (7.5) hours.
  2. ** Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, eight (8) hours leave with pay for reasons of a personal nature. For purposes of this clause, a day is equal to eight (8) hours.
  3. The leave will be scheduled at a time convenient both to the employee and the Employer. Nevertheless, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to grant the leave at such a time as the employee may request.
