Advisory details

Ottawa, January 21, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Mountainview Marketing are warning people with allergies to almonds not to consume the Pelican Bay Ltd. Toffee Fudge Hot Chocolate described below. The affected product contains almonds which are not declared on the label.

The Toffee Fudge Hot Chocolate, product of Pelican Bay Ltd., USA, was sold in a 226 g (8 oz) package bearing UPC 0 94522 00993 1 and Best By date 30/AUG/2011, LOT 83053.

This product has been distributed in Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to almonds.

The importer, Mountainview Marketing, Surrey, BC, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
