Ottawa, October 5, 2011 - The public warning issued on September 30, 2011 has been amended to correctly identify the allergens present in the recalled products and to provide additional distribution information.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to fish, shrimp or sesame not to consume the Kimchi products described below. The affected products contain allergens which are not declared on the label.
All codes of the following products, imported from Korea, are affected by this alert:

These products are known to have been distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, but may have been distributed nationally.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to fish, shrimp or sesame.
The CFIA is working with Canadian importers to recall all affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
