Ottawa, October 7, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Baxters Canada Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk not to consume the Primo brand Hearty Chicken Soup described below. The affected product contains milk which is not declared on the label.
The affected product, Primo brand Hearty Chicken Soup, is sold in 525 ml cans bearing UPC 0 55900 00554 9 and lot code EST 142 2356 9 230. The affected cans contain Minestrone soup, which has milk ingredients.
This product has been distributed nationally.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk.
The manufacturer, Baxters Canada Inc., St-Hyacinthe, QC, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
