Advisory details

Ottawa, November 7, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is cancelling the alert issued on October 5, 2011. The CFIA is now advising the public that the Strubs ready-to-eat Danish Style Smoked Grav-Lox Atlantic Salmon described below does not represent a health risk associated with Salmonella.

Brand & Product Size UPC Lot Code
Strubs ready to eat Danish Style Smoked Grav-Lox Atlantic Salmon 7 oz / 200 g 0 71217 69915 8 09262011

The original October 5, 2011 CFIA alert was based on a third-party contract laboratory report that Salmonella was detected in a sample of the Strubs ready-to-eat Danish Style Smoked Grav-Lox Atlantic Salmon. Subsequently, the same laboratory reported that the Salmonella positive result was in fact a false positive, attributed to laboratory cross contamination. Therefore, the alert issued on October 5, 2011 is cancelled.

This product was distributed in Ontario by Foodfest International 2000 Inc., Concord, ON.
