Harmonized system and other government department codes for aquatic animal import permit requirements

Import permit requirements for all aquatic animals listed in Schedule III of the Health of Animal Regulations imported for specific uses will take effect on three different dates: December 10, 2012, February 4, 2013 and April 8, 2013.

The following table outlines the applicable Harmonized System (HS) other government department (OGD) code and specific end uses of aquatic animals where the requirements will apply.

An import permit will not be required for Canadian goods returning to Canada. The applicable species can be found in Chapter 3 of the World Customs Organization's HS nomenclature guide.
