Herds infected with bovine tuberculosis in Canada in 2011
Bovine tuberculosis (TB) is a reportable disease in Canada. This means that all suspected cases must be reported to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). When it is reported, the CFIA follows a strict testing and eradication program.
Because 95 percent of all commercial animals slaughtered are sent to a federal abattoir, the CFIA uses an abattoir surveillance system to look for bovine TB in slaughtered animals.
The following table lists livestock herds confirmed to be infected with bovine TB in Canada in 2011.
Current as of: 2011-12-31
| Date confirmed | Location | Animal type infected |
