In meal or pellet feed for beef cattle (heifers only).

Approved claims

For beef cattle (heifers only) - Claim 1


Claim 1: For improved growth rate and feed efficiency, and as an aid in suppression of estrus in beef heifers being fed for slaughter.

Level of Drug:

0.40 mg per beef heifer per day

Directions:

Feed this feed containing melengestrol acetate according to directions so that each animal will receive 0.40 mg of melengestrol acetate per head per 24-hour.

Warning:

  1. Discontinue the use of this feed containing melengestrol acetate at least 24 hours before slaughter.
  2. Do not feed melengestrol acetate containing feeds to heifers implanted with or being fed other hormone drugs.

Caution:

  1. Only for use in intact heifers 181 kg and over being fed for slaughter. Not effective in spayed heifers or steers.
  2. Do not use in feeds containing pellet binding agents with the exception of lignin sulfonate (Required only on premix and supplement labels).

Note:

Labels must show this statement: Beef heifer cattle feed or supplement containing ...% melengestrol acetate to be fed at ... kg per head per day to beef heifers 181 kg and over being fed for slaughter.
