Claim 1: For the treatment of cattle infected with the following gastrointestinal worms and lungworms: Stomach worms (Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Ostertagia) Intestinal worms (Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Nematodirus, Bunostonum, Oesophagostonum); and Lungworms (Dictyocaulus).
Level of Drug:
8,000 mg/kg (0.8%) in the complete feed.
Directions:
This medicated feed is to be prepared in the form of pellets only. The worming feed is to be fed at the rate of 0.1 kg/100 kg. The amount fed should be consumed rapidly for the most effective worming. Withhold feed from the cattle overnight and then feed the worming feed mixed thoroughly in one half of the daily ration the following morning. When the medicated feed is all eaten up, resume normal feeding.
Warning:
- Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 10 days after the latest treatment.
- Milk taken from treated animals during treatment and within 60 hours after the latest treatment must not be used as food.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Caution:
- Consult a veterinarian before feeding this medicated feed to severely debilitated animals.
- If muzzle foam is observed and it persists for more than a few hours, consult a veterinarian and follow his recommendation carefully.
- Cattle maintained under conditions of constant worm exposure may require re-treatment with-in 2 to 4 weeks after the first treatment.
- Follow recommended dosage carefully.
Claim 2: For the treatment of Swine infected with the following internal parasites: Large roundworms (Ascaris spp.), Lungworms (Metastrongylus spp.), Nodular worms (Oesphagostomum spp.), Stomachworms (Hyostrongylus rubidus), Intestinal threadworms (Strongyloides ransomi).
Level of Drug:
400 mg/kg (0.04%) in the complete feed.
Directions:
Feed this medicated feed at the rate of 2 kg per 100 kg body weight. For most effective worming, the medicated feed should be consumed rapidly. Withhold feed from pigs overnight and then administer worming feed the following morning. FEED 2 KG OF WORMING FEED/100 KG BODY WEIGHT OF PIGS TO BE TREATED. Supply sufficient trough space to ensure all pigs receive required medicated feed. When medicated feed is consumed, resume normal feeding.
Pigs maintained under conditions of constant worm exposure may require retreatment within 4-5 weeks after the first treatment due to reinfection.
Warning:
- Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 96 hours after the latest treatment with this drug.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Caution:
- The reaction of salivation or muzzle foam is occasionally observed and will disappear in a short time after medication.
- If pigs are infected with mature lungworms, coughing and vomiting may be observed soon after medicated feed is consumed. This reaction is due to expulsion of worms from the lungs and will be over in several hours.
- Follow recommended dosage carefully.
- Consult a veterinarian before administering levamisole to sick swine.
- Mash feeds should be mixed well and used within three months of manufacture.
