Transportation of Animals in Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) requires transporters and other handlers involved in transporting animals to do so in a manner that prevents injury or suffering.

The CFIA's transportation regulations define the conditions for humanely transporting all animals in Canada, by all modes of transport. These regulations are found in Part XII of the Health of Animals Regulations.
