UNDECLARED MILK IN CHOCONUTTA BRAND CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT SPREAD

OTTAWA, February 26, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Arthur Roger & Assoc., Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk proteins not to consume Choconutta brand Chocolate Hazelnut Spread. The affected product contains milk which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Choconutta brand Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, product of Belgium, is sold in 750 g jars bearing UPC 0 55710 07112 3 and lot code L8289508.

This product has been distributed in Quebec and Ontario.

There has been one reported allergic reaction associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk proteins.

The importer, Arthur Roger & Assoc., Inc., Laval, QC, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
