OTTAWA, June 17, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes Mistassini Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume the Blueberry Flavour Cream chocolates described below. The affected product contains milk which is not declared on the label.
The La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes brand Blueberry Flavour Cream chocolates are sold in a 250 gram cellophane bag bearing UPC 0 67456 50806 1. Only those packages of this product which do not declare milk on the label are affected by this alert.
This product has been distributed in Quebec.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk protein.
La Chocolaterie des Pères Trappistes Mistassini Inc., Dolbeau-Mistassini, Québec is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
