Undeclared EGG in certain KINNIKINNICK FOODS brand PIE CRUSTS

January 18, 2013 - The public warning issued on December 29, 2012 has been updated to include an additional Best Before Date.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Kinnikinnick Foods Inc. are warning people with allergies to egg not to consume certain Kinnikinnick Foods brand Pie Crusts described below. The affected product contains egg which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Kinnikinnick Foods brand Pie Crusts, is sold frozen in 290 g packages (each containing 2- 8" pie crusts) bearing UPC 6 20133 00600 9 and Best Before Date 2013DE17.

This product has been distributed in Alberta.

There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg.

The manufacturer, Kinnikinnick Foods Inc., Edmonton, AB is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
