Revised Cheese Compositional Standards

The Government of Canada has clarified and harmonized the federal compositional standards for cheese.

The amendments eliminate inconsistencies in federal regulations with respect to the ingredients permitted in cheese making. The revised Regulations came into effect on December 14, 2008 and clarified the composition of cheese for consumers and industry.
