Changes to the Automated Import Reference System for Aquatic Animals
As of December 10, 2011, there will be new requirements for certain aquatic animals (finfish, molluscs, and crustaceans) imported into Canada.
In order for Aquatic Animal Health to implement their new program, changes were made to the existing OGD (Other Government Department) Code structure in the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) on October 31st, 2011. These changes affected the Fish Inspection Program for products that are regulated by both programs.
Please note that the changes will only affect the following Harmonized System (HS) Codes:
- HS 0301 – All species.
- HS 0302 – All species.
- HS 0303 – All species.
- HS 0306 – All species.
- HS 0307 – Mussels, Oysters, Clams, Abalone, Cockles and Geoducks
Note: A list of HS/OGD codes that are no longer available will be posted on the website shortly.
New Regulatory Requirements for Aquatic Animals can be found on the National Aquatic Animal Health Program's website.
