Imported Food Sector Regulatory Proposal

The CFIA was seeking stakeholder feedback on a regulatory proposal to enhance import controls, with a view to gauging the level of support for the initiative being considered and identifying any suggestions for alterations to the proposal. This pre-consultation was open for comment from August 16 until October 18, 2010.

This proposal could directly affect you if you import food products in the non-federally registered sector (NFRS). These products include all food and food ingredients subject to the Food and Drugs Act and the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act but not to other federal commodity-specific food legislation.
