11.7.3 PHILIPPINES

11.7.3.1 General information

The importer is responsible to make the necessary arrangements with the "Bureau of Animal Industry" the Agency in charge of the implementation of the requirements applicable to the importation of meat products in the Philippines.

Pork, beef and bison meat, poultry meat and horsemeat can be exported.

11.7.3.2 Import prohibitions or restrictions

Bovine meat products:

  • Tongues: the tonsils must be removed.
  • Beef cheek meat must not include lymph nodes. The slaughter/cutting establishment must have a quality assurance program in place to insure that all visible lymphoid tissue has been removed.

11.7.3.3 Specific or additional inspection procedures

The measures taken by the operator to comply with applicable requirements must be reviewed and found satisfactory by the inspector.

11.7.3.4 Additional certification

In the case of horsemeat the certification in Annex A must be issued.

In the case of beef and bison products, the certificate in Annex B must be issued.

11.7.3.5 Special packaging or marking requirements

The production or slaughter date of beef and bison products must be included on the label.
