11.7.3 THAILAND

11.7.3.1 General information

Beef import conditions applied in Thailand:

• The boneless beef shall be subjected to inspection/detention for laboratory testing on arrival in Thailand. The owner/importer shall be fully charged for incurred expenses.
  
• Failure to follow the import procedures may result in returning the meat/meat products to the country of origin or destroying it without compensation.

Pork import conditions: the trade parties are responsible to ensure that import conditions are met to the satisfaction of the importing county, (e.g. obtaining an import permit or meeting other Thai import requirements applicable to the shipment).

11.7.3.2 Import prohibitions or restrictions

Beef: only boneless beef products derived from animals aged less than 30 months is eligible for export. Please refer to Annex A for more details.

11.7.3.3 Specific or additional inspection procedures

11.7.3.4 Additional certification

Beef: Annex A must be issued and the following attestation must be included in the additional certification section of the CFIA/ACIA 1454: "The products originate from animals which have shown no signs of anthrax during ante mortem and post mortem inspection. The animals from which the meat is derived come from farms which were not under quarantine for anthrax during the last 20 days, and in which there has been no cases of anthrax reported during the last 20 days prior to slaughter."

Pork: Annex B must be issued and the following attestation must be included in the additional certification section of the CFIA/ACIA 1454: "I hereby declare that the goods described above have not originated from animals from establishments in Canada currently quarantined due to anthrax."

11.7.3.5 Special packaging or marking requirements

Beef: the wrapping and packaging materials around the boneless beef cuts bear the meat inspection legend. All shipping cartons of the boneless beef bear a slaughter or production date (month, day, year) and the words "Product of Canada". An export sticker must be applied on each carton in a manner that it will be destroyed when the package is opened.

11.7.3.6 Other requirements

The transport container of beef products must be cleaned and disinfected immediately prior to loading.
