14.3 Official Tags and Documents

The official tags and documents described by this table can be accessed through your local CFIA inspector, veterinarian or CVS Coordinator.

Detention Tag (single red tag)	Used by an inspector to identify a product or other thing when he or she believes on reasonable grounds that a contravention to the Act and Regulations has occurred. HELD Tag (single perforated tag)	Used by an inspector to maintain temporary control on a meat product, animal or other thing suspected in contravention of the Act and Regulations until the operator can take control of or the CFIA can seize and detain the meat product, animal or other thing. Detention Tag / Notice of Detention (large pink tag and hard copy form)	Used by an inspector to identify a product or other thing when he or she believes on reasonable grounds that a contravention to the Act and Regulations has occurred.
