Description:

PLANT: short, very short to short shoot length

LEAF BLADE: medium length midrib, narrow to medium width, upper side is medium to dark green, no anthocyanin colouration on margin, only green between veins on lower side

INFLORESCENCE: short to medium length peduncle
FLOWER: single
OUTER PETAL: medium to long, broad to very broad, one colour on inner side, margin and middle of inner side are red (RHS 40B), outer side is orange red (RHS 40C)

Origin & Breeding History: 'KROUTOR01' originated from a hybrid cross conducted between the variety Begonia boliviensis 'Bonfire' as the female parent, and the proprietary Begonia hybrid breeding selection 'KV02K0352-013' as the male parent. It was bred and developed by the breeder in Ermelo, Netherlands in March 2006 as part of a planned breeding program. 'KROUTOR01' was selected in February 2007 for its flower size, flower colour and outdoor performance. Asexual reproduction by cuttings, was first conducted in July 2007 in Ermelo, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KROUTOR01' is based on the UPOV report on Technical Examination, application number 2013/0232, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2014. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
