Nordenstam in November of 2000 at Log House Plants in Cottage Grove, Oregon, U.S.A. 'Purfled' was selected based on its variegated foliage and continuous bloom.

Tests & Trials: The test and trial for 'Purfled' was conducted in a poly-house during the spring of 2006 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 15 plants of each variety. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 26, 2006. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 16, 2006.
