Description:

'TNHEU041' is a Heuchera variety with a compact, mounding plant growth habit. The leaves are simple, broad ovate in general shape and palmately lobed. The leaves are moderately lobed with 5 to 7 lobes per leaf. The base of the leaf blade is partly overlapping. The leaf margins are ciliate with shallow, crenate incisions. There is strong undulation of the leaf margins. Pubescence on the upper side is medium and on the lower side it is sparse. In summer the main colour on the upper side of the leaf is reddish brown with green towards the margins and the base. The aged leaves are grey brown. The lower side of the leaf is red purple. 'TNHEU041' has a dark purple red petiole with sparse pubescence.

Origin & Breeding History: The variety 'TNHEU041' was developed by the breeder in Canby, Oregon, U.S.A. It originated from a cross made in May 1999, between 'Amber Waves' as the female parent and an unknown proprietary seedling as the male parent. Pollen from selected proprietary plants was massed and used as the pollen parent. The new variety was selected in April 2001, based on flower colour, leaf colour, mounding habit and excellent plant vigour.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'TNHEU041' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2005, in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants of each variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings, transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 29, 2005. Foliage height was recorded on July 15, 2005. All other observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 29, 2005. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 RHS Colour Chart.
