Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEP01007' originated from a controlled cross in 1997 between the female parent 'Klelad' and 'Klecardi' as the male parent, in Stuttgart, Germany. Seedlings were selected in 1998, based on criteria for double flowers, pink flower colour with purple-red eye zone, earliness, abundant flowering and medium vigorous growth. It was evaluated at indoor trials in Stuttgart, Germany in the January-May 1999 for earliness, abundant flowering, branching characteristics, and pot performance. Flower quality, quantity, tolerance to drought and diseases were evaluated outdoors in May-September 1999.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'KLEP01007' were conducted in a poly house during the spring/summer of 2002 in St. Thomas, Ontario. Trials consisted of 15 plants per variety grown from rooted cuttings, transplanted into 10 cm pots at week 17. All colour characteristics were determined using the 2001 RHS colour chart and measured characteristics were based on ten plant measurements.
