Origin & Breeding History: 'Fiwosal' originated from a combination breeding program conducted by the breeder during June-September 1995 in Dresden, Germany. The new pelargonium resulted from a cross between two unnamed selections from breeding group 5K-49, a group of about 50 stellar type proprietary selections. 'Fiwosal' was selected by the breeder in June 1996, based on its compact growth habit, salmon flower colour and good outdoor performance. Asexual reproduction of 'Fiwosal' by vegetative cuttings was first conducted in November 1996, in a controlled environment in Dresden, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, CPVO application number 1999/1804, grant number 9257, purchased from the CPVO, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2001. All colour characteristics were determined using the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart, 1986 edition.
