Origin & Breeding History: 'NPCW13218' was discovered and developed by Guido von Tubeuf in Stuttgart, Germany. It originated from an induced mutation of rooted cuttings of the variety 'Christmas Day' conducted in October 2008. The irradiated plants were pinched and cuttings were harvested and rooted. A single plant derived from these cuttings was selected for its bract colour in November 2010. Evaluation trials were conducted from August to December 2011, and 'NPCW13218' was selected in December 2012 in Stuttgart, Germany, for commercialization.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'NPCW13218' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/3123, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the University of Aarhus in Aarslev, Denmark, in 2014. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
