Description:

'POULac006' is a miniature pot rose variety which has an upright to bushy growth habit. The young shoot has weak to medium anthocyanin colouration giving it a bronze hue. The stem has an average number of prickles which are linear in shape and yellow in colour with some anthocyanin colouration. The pedicel has a few glandular prickles. The leaves are dark green and have medium glossiness on the upper side. There are five leaflets. The terminal leaflet has a serrated margin and a thin texture. The leaflet base is obtuse to rounded.

'POULac006' flowers almost continuously throughout the season. There are a low number of flowers per flowering shoot and the flower pedicel has few hairs or prickles. The flower bud is ovoid in shape when viewed at a longitudinal section, orange-red in colour when quarterly opened. The flower has medium sepal extensions and when fully opened is irregularly rounded when viewed from above, flat on the upper part when viewed from the side and concave on the lower part when viewed from the side. The flower center is normal and the corolla is very doubled. 'POULac006' has orange-red (salmon) coloured flowers. The petals have a small to medium sized spot at the base of the outer side and a small sized spot at the base of the inner side. The petal margin has medium to strong reflexing and weak undulation. The outer stamen has a orange-salmon filament. The style is medium in length and whitish-green in colour. The stigma is positioned at the same level to above the anthers. The receptacle is small and funnel shaped.

Origin & Breeding History: 'POULac006' originated from a cross made in July 1993 in Fredensborg, Denmark between an un-named seedling and 'POULrouge'. The selection criteria for 'POULac006' were uniform and abundant flowers, vigorous and compact growth, year round flowering under glasshouse conditions, suitability for production from softwood cuttings in pots, durable flowers and foliage which make it suitable for distribution in the floral industry.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'POULac006' were conducted in the fall-winter of 2004-2005 at Aldershot Greenhouses, Burlington, Ontario. Five plants of each variety were grown in 10 cm plastic pots. Cuttings were planted at the end of August 2004 and were cut back in December 2004 to encourage re-flowering. Plants were grown under greenhouse conditions used for rose production.
