As of September 4, 2009, 4,851 homeowners have been sampled and a total of 8,678 samples being taken. Three residential samples have tested positive for PPV. Orchard sampling began on May 26 in Windsor Ontario and on June 2 in the Niagara Area. As of September 3, 2009, 815,466 samples have been taken with the combined efforts of CFIA and Agricorp. There are 131 confirmed positive samples located in 101 different blocks all found in the Niagara Area as of September 4, 2009.
The survey activities have been completed. Ten orchard blocks at three different farms have been sampled. A total of 66 samples have been collected and all tested negative for PPV. With this Nova Scotia has now completed the three years of survey that is required to confirm the eradication of PPV from that province. PPV survey in Nova Scotia will now only be conducted every third year.
