GENERAL

• Origin & Breeding: bred by Agriculture Canada from the cross (834C(29) x F47024) and selected at the Fredericton Research Station, New Brusnwick, in 1958.
• Year registered in Canada: 1974
• Registration number: 1550
• Maturity: late

BOTANICAL FEATURES

• Plants: large; erect; stems dark purple at ground level, darker purple just above the attachment of the petioles; no pigmentation at the top.
• Leaves: open; dull slaty grey-green, slightly pubescent; midribs slightly paler than leaves.
  Terminal leaflets: base truncate, symmetrical.
  Primary leaflets: three pairs; base moderately decurrent, asymmetrical.
  Secondary leaflets: always three pairs.
  Tertiary leaflets: usually three to five pairs on mature leaves.
• Flowers: numerous; white corolla; long prominent peduncles; calyxes heavily pubescent, slightly purple; blossom over an extended period.
• Tubers: oblong to ovoid; medium size; slightly netted buff skin; shallow light buff eyes; white flesh.
• Sprouts: deep purple.

AGRICULTURAL FEATURES

High yielding variety of attractive appearance; performs well under organic production practices; highly resistant to bruising and skinning; good storability; high specific gravity.

REMARK: highly susceptible to the herbicide Metribuzin.

• Utilization: excellent for boiling and baking; good for french frying; very suitable for small package trade.
• Chief Markets: fresh market, home gardens.

REACTION TO DISEASES

Resistant: fusarium dry rot, tuber net necrosis caused by leaf roll.
Moderately resistant: blackleg, common scab, late blight in foliage and tubers, rhizoctonia.
Susceptible: leaf roll, verticillium wilt, PVX, PVY (severe field reaction).
