Requirements for treatment of plants for control of hemlock woolly adelgid


1. Requirements

Plants grown on a block shall be subject to one of the following approved insecticidal treatments using label recommended rates.

2. Formulations of insecticides with the following active ingredients are considered to be effective against hemlock woolly adelgid.

Active Ingredients:

  • Acephate
  • Diazinon
  • Imidacloprid
  • Insecticidal soap
  • Malathion
  • Mineral Oil

It is the growers responsibility to ensure that only registered products are used. In British Columbia, pesticides are recommended by the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture and Land (BCMAL) and the BC Landscape & Nursery Association in the Nursery & Landscape Pest Management & Production Guide Revised 2008.
