2012-12-07 - XL Foods Inc. Renewed Commitment to Food Safety achieves Re-Listing by United States Department of Agriculture
On December 7, 2012, the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) informed the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) that Establishment 38, XL Foods Inc. has been re-listed, allowing the company to resume exports to the US effective immediately.
Demonstrative of XL Foods Inc. renewed commitment and ability to meet its high food standards, the US has granted Establishment 38 the ability to export to the US. Establishments wishing to export product internationally must satisfy the food safety and quality standards of the importing country and are subject to routine sampling at the border.
The CFIA's enhanced oversight activities continue at the plant to ensure the company's long-term and preventive measures continue effective implementation. The safety of consumers is the CFIA's top priority and the Agency continues to work diligently to protect consumers.
