Production controls and inspection requirements

Seal oils

The seal oil must be subjected to a heat treatment of at least 90°C throughout its substance in order to kill any pathogenic microorganisms.

The controls outlined in the Code of Practice for the Harvest, Transport, Processing and Export of Seal Products Intended for Human Consumption must be implemented during the harvest, handling, transport and processing of the raw material from which the seal oil was processed.

Follow the controls documented in the Code of Practice for the Harvest, Transport, Processing and Export of Seal Products Intended for Human Consumption:

Standards for vessel and truck sanitation, hygiene and product temperature must be respected through the whole process.

The establishments and the product must meet all the requirements outlined on the certificate for the export of seal oil to Norway, specifically:

Encapsulated seal oil in gelatin capsules must meet these additional requirements
