Subject: Implementation of Health Canada's "Policy on Listeria monocytogenes in Ready-to-Eat Foods" in the Fish and Seafood Industry

CFIA's Fish Inspection Program will hold several information sessions for the fish processing and importing industry on the implementation of Health Canada's (HC) Policy on Listeria monocytogenes in Ready-to-Eat Foods. The dates and times of the presentations are provided below. Further sessions may be held, if needed.

The objectives of the sessions are:

  1. To review HC's policy with registered establishments and importers;
  2. To explain the impact of the policy on RTE fish and fish products; and
  3. To provide information on the role and responsibilities of industry with regards to the HC policy.

Presentations will take approximately 90 minutes and be followed by a period for questions. Sessions will be delivered via Adobe Connect webinar and teleconference. Participants will need access to a telephone line and internet to participate (see Annex 1 for details). If you do not have access to the internet, please contact your local CFIA office to make alternative arrangements. Access to the sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of 100 participants per session.

It is recommended that you become familiar with these documents prior to the sessions.

Annex 1.

Webinar/Teleconference instructions

1) Participants in the session should test their web link for the webinar prior to joining the sessions at the following address: http://admin.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm

  • Participants with Flashplayer 9.0 or newer will not have difficulty. Participants with older versions will be prompted that they require Flashplayer 10.1, which can be downloaded by following the instructions.
  • The test will indicate readiness if your computer has all of the necessary requirements.

2) At the date and time of your selected session, it is recommended that you begin your access procedure 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time:

  2. Enter as a Guest by typing in your name and hitting the "enter room" button.
  3. Using your telephone, dial into the teleconference line:

3) The session will proceed with the facilitator talking through the session using the presentation available on your computer screen. It is recommended to have a piece of paper and a pen on hand during the webinar in order to write down your questions. If your question concerns a specific slide in the presentation, please note the number of the slide.
