Subject: New Requirements for Canadian Establishments that Process or Store Fish and Seafood Products for Export to the People's Republic of China

This is to advise that in order for fish and seafood products processed at processing establishments or stored at cold storage warehouses to be eligible for export to the People's Republic of China beyond April 30th, 2013, these establishments and warehouses must be registered with the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA), and appear on the List of Canadian establishments approved for export to the People's Republic of China as maintained by the CNCA.

Establishments wishing to be added to the above-mentioned list must be in compliance with all aspects of the Fish Inspection Regulations, including Schedule I and II.

Cold storage warehouses are exempted from Schedule I and II but are subject to the Licensed Cold Storage Warehouse Standard.

To request inclusion on the List of Canadian establishments approved for export to the People's Republic of China, please submit the following information to your local CFIA office by no later than March 15, 2013:

• Registration or Export Licence number
• Full legal name as it appears on the certificate of registration or export licence
• Physical site address as it appears on the certificate of registration or export licence
• Type of establishment, i.e. Processing Plant (PP), factory vessel (FV), freezing vessel or transportation vessel (ZV), cold store (CS)
• An indication as to whether the products to be exported include bivalve molluscs
• An indication as to whether the products to be exported include the use of any aquacultured raw material

This information should be provided using the form in Appendix A (attached).

This information will in turn be compiled by CFIA's Fish, Seafood and Production Division for submission to the CNCA. It is our uderstanding that the List of Canadian establishments approved to export aquatic products to the People's Republic of China will be available on the CNCA's website. Once a link to the list is available, the CFIA will include it on its website.

Please note once the initial list of establishments is approved by the CNCA, requests for additions, amendments and deletions to the list will also be forwarded to the CNCA for approval. As such, please submit a request for such changes to your local CFIA office by providing the necessary details.

As the CNCA has not specified the frequency with which they will process submissions for updates, anyone who might export fish and seafood products to China in the future is encouraged to request inclusion of their establishments and cold storages at this time.
