Notice to industry – Testing and certification for the Integrated Import Declaration (IID)

After speaking with industry associations, it has come to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) attention that some importers and customs brokers who declare CFIA regulated commodities to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) require further guidance related to the certification and testing process of Integrated Import Declaration (IID) software packages.

Enhanced testing with the CFIA

CFIA offers enhanced testing services for CFIA regulated clients who are certified to transmit IID declarations, but require further testing to ensure that their system is functioning properly.

To initiate enhanced system testing or seek transition support with the CFIA, send an email to: cfia.edi-edi.acia@inspection.gc.ca

Becoming certified by contacting the CBSA

All those who declare CFIA regulated commodities to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) electronically should have been certified to transmit their import declarations through the IID message format as of January 1, 2019 – but it isn't too late.

If you are a service provider or customs broker who is not certified to transmit IID declarations yet, contact the CBSA's Technical Commercial Client Unit:

Telephone: 1-888-957-7224
Fax: 343-291-5482
Email: TCCU-USTCC@cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
