Consultation on Wine Labelling

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has completed its initial consultation on a new regulation under the Canada Agricultural Products Act and proposed regulatory amendments to the Food and Drug Regulations and the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Regulations about the labelling of wine.

In the coming months, the CFIA will be working with all members of the wine industry, including producers and provincial government on these proposed wine changes. This will also include reconvening the Icewine Working Group.

The CFIA will review all of the comments received through this initial consultation and working groups and make any necessary changes prior to posting regulatory changes in Canada Gazette I.

At that time, there will also be additional opportunities for industry and consumers to provide comments before the completion of the regulatory process.
