Establishments

Export certification requirements have been established for pork and pork products. Meat products will be subjected to import inspection in India which may include laboratory testing (microbiological testing, chemical testing, etc)

Import permit

Trading parties (operator/exporter/importer) are responsible for ensuring that the certification provided by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is in compliance with the requirements appearing on the import permit that must be issued by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries.

Production controls and inspection requirements

Note: meat products will be subjected to import inspection in India which may include laboratory testing (microbiological testing, chemical testing, etc.).

Note: necessary information must be provided to the CFIA to demonstrate that animal health conditions are met.

Processing establishments

Transfer of eligible product between slaughter, processing and/or storage establishments

Annex J: Transfer Certificate for Meat Products must be used when eligible products are moved between establishments

Eligible products must be segregated from ineligible products

Eligibility and registration

All licensed federally registered establishments can apply for eligibility to export pork and pork products to India provided all certification requirements are met. Additionally, all slaughter and processing establishments must request to be registered with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) through their local CFIA inspector. The list of federally licensed pork establishments that are currently registered with FSSAI can be found in Annex 1 (List Of Establishments Approved To Export To India).

Labelling, marking and packaging requirements

Trading parties (operator/exporter/importer) are responsible to ensure that the product intended for export is labelled in accordance with Indian requirements
