Invasive Species

Invasive species are plants, animals and micro-organisms that spread when introduced outside of their natural distribution and cause serious and often irreversible damage to Canada’s ecosystems, economy and society. They can be introduced into Canada from other countries or continents, or from one region of Canada to another.

Preventing and managing invasive species will strengthen Canada's long-term competitiveness, protect its natural environment, and contribute to the well-being of its citizens.
