February 2, 2017, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has revoked the import licence of Echopack Inc., a fish importing company located in Montreal, Quebec, effective January 19, 2017.

The import licence was revoked pursuant to paragraph 6.2(1)(e) of the Fish Inspection Regulations. The company had not paid the applicable fees set out in the notice on fish inspection fees.

There are no food safety issues associated with the distributed product and no product is being recalled.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
