July 11, 2019, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has cancelled the Safe Food for Canadians licence #4HLB74V8 of La Stella Foods Manufacturing Ltd. located in Burnaby, British Columbia, effective July 8, 2019.
On May 3, 2019 the licence of La Stella Foods Manufacturing Ltd. was suspended for failure to comply with provisions related to sanitation and pest control of their establishment (Part 4 of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR)). During a licence suspension, licence holders may not conduct any activity that is identified in their licence.
CFIA follow-up inspections determined that the company had continued to conduct activities identified in their licence while its licence was suspended, which is grounds for cancellation.
La Stella Foods Manufacturing Ltd was notified of the reason for cancellation and provided an opportunity to be heard. After meeting with the licence holder regarding the cancellation of SFC licence #4HLB74V8, CFIA has cancelled the licence pursuant to section 39(b) of the SFCR.
There is no food recall associated with this cancellation.
